This competition is jointly organized by the Highway Bureau and Technology Department of the Ministry of Transport, guided by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Transport and the Panyu District People's Government of Guangzhou. It is jointly hosted by five units, including Guangdong Provincial Transportation Group Co., Ltd., the Road Network Monitoring and Emergency Response Center of the Ministry of Transport, China Traffic News Agency Co., Ltd., the Traffic Engineering and Information Technology Branch of the China Highway Society, and Fujian Provincial Expressway Group Co., Ltd. On February 4, 2021, Foshan Expressway and China Merchants Huaruan signed a strategic cooperation agreement for Foshan Expressway Toll Robot, jointly establishing an innovative research and application working group for lane robots to further promote the development and promotion of lane robots.
In October 2021, the application of lane robots expanded again. Four lane robots were added to the Jihuadong toll station located on the Fojiangbei Expressway, which has been in operation for two months and has received widespread praise from drivers and passengers.
